BIO
I would have never seen myself doing art. In High school I just focused on graduating so I could join the Marine Corps since I didn’t want to go to college. When I joined the USMC I realized that all I wanted to do was get out of it. I disliked it but I learned life lessons, made lifelong friends and fell in love with traveling. Little did I know, this was all subconsciously having an impact on my young creative mindset. When I was finally out I decided to pursue a degree in Graphic design to let the creative juices flow. I enrolled into North Lake's college and later graduated with an AA in Graphic Design 2 years later. After that I enrolled into UTA but didn’t feel that a BA in Graphic design/Visual Communications would make me happy. I always leaned more towards the drawing side (since that’s what I would do on my free time). I have completed my degree at UTA and now I’m seeking in the future to achieve my master’s in illustration.
Artist statement
I make art that takes influences from Japanese, Californian and Texan culture. These 3 places are where I spent most of my life of course. To express the experiences I have had, I mostly use Illustration to draw the people and objects that I encountered. I sort of blend them all together to make a drawing come together, whether it be a certain mood, lifestyle, place, culture or time period. I pull from memories to make the piece feel more relatable.
